hi folks, ive been star gazing for about 5 years now and built up a pretty decent array of gear and id very much like to add a meade pst solar scope to my collection...id very much appreciate a review if any one owns or had any experience with it or something similar..cheers

It is actually called a Coronado PST - Meade bought Conorado a few years ago and kept the company name for these solar Telescopes.

I had one for a few years. Great viewing! You mainly see the prominences flaring from the edge of the sun but also some surface detail shows. The proms are the most spectacular part of the sun. A zoom eyepiece works very well for observing with the PST. So, well worth the money.

You may also consider the Lunt 35mm Ha solar scope.

Go for something that is pressure-tuned so you see a range of details. Seek out some friends or your local astronomy club to take a look through some of them to get an idea on what they're like. Coronados are good value for money though some swear by the Lunts. (Lunt split from Coronado years ago so they have similar origins) I've been playing with a Coronado SolarMax II 60mm and been quite happy with it. Pressure tuning makes all the difference.

Cheryl-Ann,
The tilt tuning of both the Coronado and the Lunt allow you to tune from the red wing of Halpha into the blue wing.
Doesn't need to be pressure tuning.
