Superb result Anthony. No need to overdo the saturation, personally I think the first image felt wonderfully "real". All you need is a coma corrector and you'll be out of the beginners section and dusting it up in the main deep sky thread.
Cheers,
Cam

Thanks Cam for your compliment,

I've thought about using a coma corrector but have chickened out because of the concept of using spacers to achieve focus.
My scope has been butchered a fair bit to get it rigged up for astrophotography which was purpose built from scratch for visual use only. Let me tell you I've run into heaps of trouble trying to achieve focus for photography as well as maintaining its ability as a visual scope still.
The glass is premium quality which is on my side though.

With your suggestion and I believe Kevin(cometcatcher) has guided me once before to do the same, I may take the plunge and see if I can make it work.
Perhaps the Baader MIII?

Cheers
Anth

Is your tube assembly and focuser a recognised brand such as Skywatcher,
or assembled from sundry items, and what is its f ratio?

Raymo,
It's a Frankenstein effort of bolting and assembling various bits of gear.
It's an F5- 10 inch Hand ground aluminised O'hara glass, Zeroda secondary 1250mmfocal length, Novosibirsk Blacksea Finder, Japanese 2" Rack&Pinnion focuser, the OTA is weather protected formatube, flocked and exterior painted(heavy beast), no guide scope assembly installed.

Hi Anth, I think the Baader MIII is pretty much plug and play to use with a dslr and newt, well it was with my 1100d canon . I have now gone with a toag and that did require a lot of fiddling with spacers to match the two camera's up. And I should add that's a excellent pic of the Centaurus globular.

I have a GSO coma corrector and a Bintel spacer kit if you're interested (https://www.bintel.com.au/product/bi...acer-ring-set/). I just don't shoot with my Newt anymore (it's too much on my shoddy HEQ5-Pro) and don't care about the coma corrector for visual use. Feel free to make me an offer if you want. It certainly worked as advertised on my Nikon D5100. I can dig you up some pictures if you care. I don't tend to post pics much on here anymore cause I can't be bothered dealing with the tiny upload limit.

Cheers,
Cam
