I love capturing beautiful nightscape photography, and I’m always happy to share what I know and what I learn. I’m keen to inspire others to head outside and look up at the sky, and to photograph the sky.
So I’m starting a series of posts with the theme ‘Nightscape Photography 101‘ – sharing tips and tricks to help you take better nightscape photos and become a better nightscape photographer.

Titled What are Nightscapes?, it covers what nightscapes actually are, and how they differ from what would be considered 'Astrophotography' or normal 'Landscape Photography'. I also explain the different types of Nightscapes, and talk about the Technology enablers that have changed the game in the last few years.
Titled "Fundamentals of Nightscape Photography", it covers the basics of capturing enough light at night-time, an introduction to celestial mechanics (how the sky moves at night), my 5-point plan to capturing a nightscape, and whether a cookbook recipe can actually work for nightscapes.

A great initiatives. May I have one minor whinge
A long time ago when half the current membership of IIS was born, a wise man named David Ogilvy, who basically was the intellectual forerunner of today's advertising industry , wrote one Do Not
And that was don't every do white writing on black.
It look great but it is impossible to read. Art directors ever since..including Australian Sky and Telescope have routinely ignored David Ogilvy's sage advice
Let me tell you that if you want anyone to read what you have written, don't , please reverse print white on black...or in your case grey
You will remember this when you reach my age. which begins with 5.
So you decide...do you want to have it look great..or want everyone to read it
I'd suggest changing this part slightly: "Facing east after 9pm is good right now as you have the Milky Way rising." It's ok if you read it now, but someone reading it at different times of the year might misunderstand. Adding an explicit time of year makes the writing relevant no matter when it's read.
