my travel 10’’ dobson in a laptop bag

hi

sorry for my poor english i m french

i have a disease : a neuropathy and i m in hospital now

before the beginning on my probleme , i make a travel 10’´ very very compact : it can be travel this full part ( truss tube includes )in a laptog bag ... whith enough place for a standard laptop

i present it only two french star party : RCE in 2014 and RAP in 2016 ( hill in 2015 , sorry )

my secret , not visible on picture , in the use of neodymne magnets in the spider , the sesondary and pass-filter

i can answer ( with using google translator ) as you want via a private message with only my phone

i can explain how to do to make smaller if someone want to do that

I was thinking, the struts are so long and thin I would be very concerned about the vibrations

Get well soon Laurent.

I too make use of flexing thin diameter carbon fibre tubes to form the OTA.

No vibrations. No flex either in the OTA. The trick is in the strain introduced to the poles, they work against each other to provide the necessary rigidity and vibration free.

I can swap between a wee 6mm plossl to a 1kg eyepiece, and collimation holds fast

Vibrations can also be introduced from a poorly designed rocker box. Design the rocker box properly, and no vibrations, no backlash, and the quality of the action is constant and silky smooth.

I haven't gone down the segmented poles route though. I haven't found a connection system that satisfies me. I cannot comment on Laurent's design as I have no experience with his scope, obviously. I would love to hear from you, Laurent about the system you use to join the poles! It is most innovative.
