Synscan Update

After running Synscan ver.3.27 successfully for a few years on my type 3 controller I thought I would upgrade to Synscan ver.03.39.05. The download went well but when I started it up I got the following responses:
- After initializing - Caution - then get message "Both axes-no response".
- Hit Setup and get Synscan ver.03.39.95
- Hit enter and goes straight to date setting.
- Proceed with correct date setting, time setting, daylight saving - yes.
- Hit enter and it goes back to Setup and date etc.

Any advice regarding this behaviour?
(Why did I leave ver.2.7?? Am tempted to go back to it if it is still available!)

Used to get that message about the non responsive axes on my 16" dob. Found the best solution was to just turn the goto unit off and on again.

Thanks Patrick - I tried to find old ver3.27 but the only one I could find was ver.3.37 which was issued about a year before ver.3.39.95. It allowed me to put in the location coordinates and otherwise seemed to work ok. However, I was doing these tests "offline", ie with only power connected to the paddle. I will give both versions a full test when I have my mount connected etc and see what happens. Peter

While i haven't tried 3.39 (I'm on 3.36) but moving from 3.35 to 3.36 was a huge mistake (PA routine is painful).
i'm looking to wind back to v3.35 when i get the chance. Let me know if you would like files - as i was going to dig them out anyway (pretty sure i don't have 3.27 though- however 3.35 was nearly as good).

cheers

Hi Peter,
I have v3.27 if you want it. If so, send me a PM with your email.

Thanks for all these useful replies. I have now obtained a copy of Ver.3.27EQ
which I have restored to my Synscan. Apart from the occasional small blip this version works fine with my HEQ5Pro. I have tried other versions but this seems the best one for me. "Horses for courses" I suppose. Peter
