Question Lens Vignetting

What level of Vignetting is acceptable on a new lens?
I bought a Nikon 35mm 1.8 lens
At full apperture it requires a correction of >50 in Camera Raw to balance it.
The 8bit value varies from 204 in one corner to 250 in the centre.

Can anybody advise if this within acceptable limits or should I send the lens back?

Thanks for any advise.

At f/1.8, that is to be expected.

Stop down to f/4 and you'll notice a big improvement.

Personally, I'm a fan of vignetting in terrestrial images.

Yes, or even just to f/2.8:

Thanks for the comments.
In my test shots, I noticed the improovement when stepped down.
I'm not entirely happy with the Vignetting not being symmetrical.

Steffen
Very useful link, should have done more research before purchase.
Thank you.

Me too.

As you have already discovered, it's very easy to remove vignetting in Camera Raw. I assume Adobe has even supplied the correct profile for your camera and lens combination. That being the case, I don't see the issue.

Aside for this, are you happy with the image quality?

James
