"Word" apps for iPad???
Guys,
My wife uses her iPad for many things....
We haven't found a app which can be used to read and edit word docs or allow recording of notes/ docs which can be moved to Word on the PC..
Any ideas??
Appreciated.

Microsoft Word for iPad is about as good as you are going to get for the iPad.

'Word' for ipad
Have you considered Pages? Costs around $10 one off. There's also Numbers which has passable spreadsheet capability.

CloudOn is a free app. It may be what you need.

If you are already using Microsoft Office 365 for the PC, you can install the iPad app for no extra charge. But of course, if you don't have Office 365, then yes, it is a costly way to get the app.

For editing Word docs I have QuickEdit (formerly OfficeČ HD) on my iPad. I don't use it very often, though, since for reading you don't really need any special apps and I try to avoid littering the world with even more new Word docs (can you guess that I'm no fan of Word?).
For note taking the cross-platform Evernote is a much better choice, for example. It is the right tool for the job and keeps my notes in sync between iPhone, iPad, Mac, and PC.
Cheers
Steffen.

Have a look on www.sourceforge.com
They are open source software site and cater to a number of operating systems.

As suggested, Pages, Numbers and Keynote are the Apple equivalents to the Microsoft suite.
I love Pages.
