Terry's Comet Dec 15th

Nice one Mr Lovejoy.
Another Xmas comet as requested!

A wide field shot from last night, stacked on the comet.
Also, a narrow field set from the 15th (@1524mm FL)

Thanks Kevin,

I've done 3 nights now and just about have it right Miss Jane!
Too narrow field at 1500mm, too wide at 80mm, tonight's set
in progress with the ED80 and QHY8 should be just right....
Doing my darks now....

Ok, here is a set with the ED80/ QHY8 combination.
10 sec x 98fr and a 30 sec set of 12fr.
Its funny how I can perceive more tail with a set aligned on the stars.(4th pic)
A hint of a tail. Suburban Adelaide. I guess you just can't beat
dark skies!

That's just as I see it here in western Melbourne, dark skies and more light?.
keep at it if the weather permits... regards, alan.

result from 19th Dec.
I think the suburban Xmas lights are playing havoc with my
sky blackness too. Just can't get as deep as I normally can with this combo.

and a final set, this one is a combination of two sets of 60s subs.
See how the focus changed (on the stars)as the night got cooler and the
comet got higher in the sky.

20 Dec2014

Last night I tried binning 2x2 on the QHY8.
Only thing is I forgot to do binned darks as well!
So this result has no dark calibration, hence the dark holes.
