Thank you Cathy. I suspected SW we're going to do something like this, a lighter version of the azeq6, so I'm glad I've held off upgrading my mount thus far... Looks very interesting! Fox!

Watching this one with interest! Any idea of when it is available? Definitely WITH the mini-pier tripod. I'll put my name on one with myastroshop.

Guessing it'll be around the $1500 to $1600 mark, judging by the price difference between NEQ6 and AZ-EQ6. I also hope it is belt driven like it's big brother too.

A Skywatcher rep on CN also said it will have dual encoders and slip clutches like its bigger brother.

Cheers

At last a decent tripod that will fit in a suitcase. I wonder if they'll make that available on its own.

Steve.

Hi Guys,

The AZ-EQ5GT should be in Australia before Christmas.
EDIT:
Sorry, incorrect eta.
The AZ-EQ5GT will not be available until around March 2015.

The pier tripod will be an option, and should also become an option for other SkyWatcher EQ mounts.

Looks nice, but,
Methinks they need to proof read their flyers

Looked interesting at first but from the video the worm wheels are rather small. I'd be skeptical about the payload it can usefully take.
