Massive Price drop on ZWOASI2600MC

I just noticed on Bintel’s website that the 2600MC is now on sale for $2199.00
which is a huge price drop from 6 months ago
I purchased mine back in July for $3,299.00
If anyone’s interested in an excellent APS-C sensor sized cooled OSC camera, then I’d order one before Xmas. The price will probably increase in the new year

071MC is $2199 & directly above the 2600 which is $2999.... wonder if you might have inadvertently misaligned the prices Martin? Easy enough to do..

Even that is $700 down on six months ago when I bought mine. I am kind of glad it is the 071 not the 2600 that is at $2K (Unless there was some one day special thing on the 2600) as I really don't want to spend the money but I would have had an awfully itchy "Buy now" finger on getting a second one and retiring the ASI294.

Hopefully the mono version of the 2600 appears soon and is reasonably priced.

I just checked the website and yes (unfortunately) the 2600 is on sale but for $2999.

I got all excited. Was about to bring my case to the finance committee.

No, its more like AU$2900 landed.

US$1799 plus say US$80 for shipping + AUD$2609 plus GST and clearance charges of AUD$300 totals at US exchange rate of .72 about AUD$2900.

The shipping might be more, like US$100.

GST on imported goods always seems to be more like 15% than 10% as you have clearance charges on top of the cost and they work out the GST on the lot.

Greg.

I just received mine, direct from ZWO, 1799USD plus free shipping. Arrived in 4 days. 2450 AUD landed and customs let it through

I have brought 3 cameras from OZ suppliers but this was out of stock, if it wasn't i probably would have again.

YMMV

Cheers
Paul

I think if you use the big freight companies like UPS, Fedex, DHL you'll get to pay GST every time. But postal services they seem to let them through.

That's my experience. FedEx charge $108 per shipment in fixed customs entry fees. GST is on top of that.

BTW FedEx are also gouging freight rates at the moment due COVID. A recent shipment I received from the USA saw a DOUBLING of the previous rate.

Maybe it's a supplier thing? I have bought items from Daystar and Feathertouch both delivered by courier and have been charged import duty if over $1,000 and GST if under.

ZWO offers free shipping with DHL for items over USD 200. Both the items I have bought have been GST and import duty free, one under the $1000 limit and one over.

I bought two recently ZWO cameras from Agena Astro in the last few months that came UPS and it seems that UPS makes sure you pay the import duty here. In both cases I paid a little more in total than here though at the time no local supply.

Anyway I've taken a sideways approach to the ASI2600MC and have just today taken delivery of the QHY268C which is the same sensor.... its sitting right now in a darkened room racking up a dark library ;-) and this time no import duties... bought from a local supplier Testar who have a great discount on it right now and are fast and reliable and helpful.

Super jealous. I think I'll go for the QHY one next year as well.
Do you need filters with that camera?

it's a full colour camera so doesnt need filter wheel and coloured filters. It's recommended to use a UV/IR cut filter if not using another light pollution filter. In my heavily poluted skies I use light pollution filters such as IDAS-LPS-P2 and Optolong L-ENhance and L-extreme.
