127mm f7.5 refractor with FCD100 Hoya glass

Had the pleasure of observing through the new Saxon branded version of this at Snake Valley - amazing contrast & sharpness.

My colleague remarked that it was ‘Tak sharp” and he owns Takahashi scopes!

Probably have to upgrade the stock focusser and add a flattener- but was wondering if anyone has used one of these for AP as yet? I gather they’re made at the same factory as Explore Scientific units.

952mm is decent FL too

Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,

I had a dream too https://explorescientificusa.com/pro...atic-refractor

Not because I need one... but I want one ... if that make sense

It's only money (I don't have) ... I wonder how much the total cost to import?

Hi Andy
I have a Maxvision version of the North Group 127 f7.5 Apo that i picked up 2 years ago via the classifieds and am very happy with its performance, visually and photographically. No discernible colour fringing at focus at up to 400X mag. and a flat enough field for my needs with an APS sized DSLR.
The stock focuser is adequate with some "tuning up", will handle 2 kg of camera and filter wheel without slipping. As a lot of reviews say, they are great value for the money. Can recommend them.
