Hi Peter

Unplug the hand control at the paddle end and replace it with the wifi dongle. You end up with the wifi bit on the end of the hand control cable.

Doesn't WiFi dongle must be on PC side?

Have a look at OnSTEP website, Howard Dutton is using WiFi modem for exactly that purpose.

You may have to add some more h/w. to convert 5V serial interface to whatever EQ6 has as paddle interface (not sure what it is).

You can find it on ebay for 10$

Have a look at the thumbnail of the youtube vid on skywatcher's site here:
https://skywatcheraustralia.com.au/p.../wifi-adapter/

Seems the answer is apparent without even watching the vid. I'd love to have both these items... best get saving...

I have a Celestron Astro-Fi AZ mount, which works the same way from the Sky safari (and other software)'s perspective.

I'd recommend using it in infrastructure mode where possible, rather than ad-hoc. That said, it's getting more stable with every update (at least for me). EDIT: this last point is limited to the Celestron Wifi adaptor. Having never used the Skywatcher unit, I'm obviously unqualified to comment. It may be worth considering, should you have trouble however. Also, recent reading advises paying attention to phone/tablet "battery saving" modes, which may break the connection - not good if in mid-slew!

Hi,
This is not WIFI but Bluetooth EQ6 adapter.

It look very good, small and no external power. I do not have one myself so no experience from it. Just want to tell if it's an option fore some of you.

If hed put it in a box with an RJ connector that is 1:1 with the mount, maybe useful.
