NGC 1210 - a shell galaxy

Hi to all

I've been working on this one for a while and unfortunately it coincided with a some scope problems I've been having which required me to throw away a lot of data. Also the seeing was pretty bad when I did the colour. Shell galaxies are elliptical galaxies with faint concentric shells and were discovered in the eighties by David Malin. NGC 1210 is a pretty good example.

Cheers

Steve

Small but great target Steve, looks like one that might keep delivering with increased exposure. Those outer extensions are interesting for sure.
Is that the full frame view?

Thanks Rolf. That's about 80% full frame resolution but only a crop of the full frame to mask some of the problems I was having. I don't think I'll be going back to it.

Thanks Clive. I have this colleague in the UK who regularly suggests unusual targets

Sounds like you must have liked it - thanks for the comments. I can't take any credit for the explanation as I just lifted that from the web.

Nice going Steve, definitely a tiny target and despite your difficulties you've done a great job.

Thanks Ross. This might be one of the few amateur photos of this object.

Thanks Louie. I might do but I've been given another similar one in Antlia to look at so maybe I'll check that out first.

Thanks Ray. It's certainly nice to go after something a bit unusual.
