Here is my version of the Sagittarius Triplet M8, M20, NGC 6559 and M21 cluster for good measure. 71mm Quad APO scope, Atik 11000M Camera, AZEQ5 mount, guided with Starshoot auto guider using Maxim capture software. 1 Hour of Ha, 2 1/2 Hours of LRGB. Processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop CC.
thanks for looking

Paul

Thanks Marc

This is a slight crop the full width of the 71mm is larger at near 5 degrees I've attached the whole thing as follows. There is also a slight boost to the colour in this one. I'm still playing with the NBRGB script in pixinsight and trying to get things right.

all the best

Paul

Its a lovely field. Good detail. Those blue stars aren't real though, that is chromatic aberration. Try using Lightroom or perhaps Photoshop to remove chromatic aberration blue fringing and it will get rid of most of it. There's also a Noel Carboni action that removes it.

Greg.

That's a nice field of view, showing the lovely golden star field of the region. I like the image. I think I prefer the second image more.

Thank you Paul, I was trying to bring out the field in that way and the higher colour does seem to have a bit more punch.

It is interesting that a reworking can change a pic entirely. This attempt was to get the halos around the stars under control and bring out the Ha data a bit more. a rotation and crop to focus in on the main targets also seemed to be a good thing to do. In future some O3 might lift it a bit more.

We like it a lot as an image.

It is impossible not to notice that BigFoot has Marge Simpson at the "heel" end, and another very distinctive face in profile at the "toes" end. Two heads are better than one.

Thank you Greg. Getting the best result from PixInsight and the NBRGB script takes some experimentation and the results can be wildly different. I have had results that have been from fluro red to almost mono so what STF and how much boost for the NB filter can really muck things up. I have found that it can alter the blues when bringing in Ha.

All the best

Paul

Well my hat is off to you for conquering PI for colour work. I am sure its great but its a bit of learning curve.

This is developing nicely Paul. Makes for an interesting thread. I have my eye on that horse shoe shaped Ha region off to the right in your first image as a target. I can't seem to find a catalog number for it yet though. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for that. The Ha you mentioned is of course more viable in the Ha mono image. I’m not sure what it is either. This is 1.5 hours of Ha with a 20 nanometer filter.
