A moderately grainy version of the two, together just inside my field of view last night. A stack of 12 x 2 minute guided exposures at ISO640, 750mm Newtonian, Canon EOS 60D, with the coma of a full frame. Some hints of the interesting dust and starfields behind, but just a bit low from my light-polluted suburb to show those very clearly.
Very cool. If only this had occurred a few months ago, when Mars was riding high in the sky.
But then we'd be complaining about having to do a meridian flip. LOL
Thanks everyone! JJJ, I remember wishing it was around when I imaged the Pipe at the end of July... seeing the rich dusty background would've been just too good, and compensate totally for meridian complaints!
