Jupiter 6.5.19

SPX350 F17.8, ASI290, Baader RGB filters.

Seeing was set to be fantastic according to predictions but it did not show, it started looking promising but would not play ball.

I used fast frame rate compared with other cameras of 90fps which may have helped but Jupiter rippled like a flag sometimes. This is my first effort this season.

Regards, John.

Very nice John and it was interesting to read of the anticipated "good seeing" that did not arrive, as I was also expecting it from looking at the charts, but it did not arrive.

Cheers

Dennis

Yes Dennis, I used the calsky GFS seeing forecast but I found a site Meteoblue which gives more nuanced data on seeing for AU. It uses 2 models plus turbulent layers so I will be giving this a check as it said bad seeing when GFS said good and seemed to be right? You have to take these with some reservation and match it with steady high pressure or before cold fronts etc as well as good old star twinkle I've learnt.

John.
