What software do you use?

I play with:

Starry Night Backyard 3 and Pro Plus 6
Celestia
Stellarium
Nova for Windows

Just getting started with ASCOM to control my mount.

Im sure there are many more great applications out there for things ive not even thought of.

Id love to hear about them.

Pete,

I'm using

PhD Guiding - simple, effective, uncomplicated. Does what it avdertises (guiding) and does it well

DSLR Focus - imaging software - this works for my Canon 350D but not later models. I like it perhaps because it was the first thing I used but again, it's pretty straightforward. I'll worry about something else when I have a better camera.

Alignmaster - this is new to me but from the several plays I have I think it's essential for alignment. Seems well worth the $16.

EQMOD - again, pretty new to this but I think I'm gunna love not having to rely on the hand controller anymore. Just got a wireless game controller working with it too.

The Sky - planetarium software.

I think that's it for software at the pointy end.

In the backroom I use

Deep Sky Stacker and Registax
Photoshop

And just starting to play with Lightroom.

There's a wide, wide world of software out there. A bewildering variety really. I'm focussing on using what I have before venturing any further.

Recently (as over 12 months ago), purchased Skytools 3 standard. Find it useful for planning my observing nights. Simple to use, printable etc.

Previously had no method to my madness when it came to observing. At least with Skytools it helps me set a goal/agenda for the night.

I use Macintosh with a GStar video camera, mostly for occultation work (with a bit of deep sky thrown in for sheer enjoyment).

AstroPlanner v2 (awesome app for finder charts, field of view, etc)
Nebulosity v2 for stacking galaxies.
Stellarium for working out what star I am looking at.
Equinox v6
iMovie to record video.
homegrown app to record individual images rather than video - makes it easier to use Neb to stack.

On the PC:-
Occult Watcher by Hristo Pavlov (looks at all the occultation feeds and lets you know when they are due in your viewing area). Indispensible.
Tangra (video reduction software to produce light curves - very slick)
LiMovie (another light curve maker - does OCR on video time stamps)
