They are floating about in the Goodies offshore pirate radio station listening to A walk in the Black Forest.
In a thread not long ago related to an incident of break and enter / theft of scope it was suggested that your true coordinates are not listed along with your list of astro toys for security purposes...the Goodies are there for security...

I love this idea. Would be great to learn about members who live closer to me (e.g. Mornington Peninsula), etc. Privacy of course would be an issue so people would have to be careful not to put their most specific location.

Cheers,
Af.

Is there anyway to get a Members map that zooms to separate out the dots a bit

Zooming the map is technically not too much of a problem. Having said that...

People can choose to advertise their rough coordinates to others. The coordinates that members provide are currently used to provide astronomical information and to calculate line-of-sight distance between two members.

The current member map does not broadcast the exact coordinates of any member to anyone. A map that displays coordinates of people becomes a privacy issue when the same coordinates are used to display their location on a zoomable map. Simply because their coordinates are open for all to see when using an interface that runs in a web browser.

I have written a couple of zoomable maps but they will never see the light of day in their current form. In the end, any public map will only display a limited number of members. ie. Only the people who have opted to be shown on a map. Which will make for a very boring map.

It's been a while since I've looked at that map. That's a lot o' dots!

Adding your details to the IIS map??

I found the map. Not easy to find, not very well advertised on the forum????
How you get any detail from it?
Can you add your own position details??
