LCD screen protectors for camera bodies

Evening Folks.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about LCD screen protectors for camera bodies,I have my new 50D and I was thinking may be do I need them, how do they attach on?are they a sticky thing that goes on?I have heard people talk about them.I think at astrofest people had red ones for night activities. But really are unfamiliar with them,so advice needed.and where would I get them.

I had a good examination of my 450D it does not have one, there are no scratches and I have had it almost a year,so wonder if I need them. But I do go out in bush a fair bit. There are very faint marks on LCD of 450D,mainly from taking in and out of bag,But no major ones, like the kiddies PS.

If anyone using these screen protectors I'd like to hear and see about them.

Thank you,Chris

Hi Chris,

I have one on my 450D. You can buy them from a camera shop already cut to size. I think mine cost me about $8.

If you take your cameras in and ask nicely, they may fit them for you.

You can also get the generic ones that you have to cut to size yourself but I would stick to the pre-cut ones.

I have never heard of the red ones.

Hi Chris,

Nikon have a hard plastic clip on protector - this is quite convenient as I could slip a red plastic filter underneath it for Astro.

The Canon I bought recently has a stick on one. I will probably just stick on a red filter with sticky tape when required.

Chris, the answer yet again is to get a couple from HK, I bought 2 of the film type from this eBay seller. Here is the item I bought, ATM just $5.91 posted, at that price I buy a couple. I have bought for both 50D and 5DII from the same dealer.

Thank you Phil!!

your link to the camera cable release was great too!,I have the one you suggested on its way from Hong Kong.I see a few people on these pages that have that same remote, and the Nikon version, and all say its very fine and a treat to use.

So thank you very much Phil, for your very useful links,I am sure others will find them useful to.

regards Chris
