Jupiter last night between clouds

Surprising detail here - maybe clouds helped. Or could be otherwise I'm overexposing....

Stacking in Autostakker, Registax wavelets

Can anyone explain why I am getting the horizontal lines artifact please?

Very nice indeed!

As far as the lines, have you tried different settings for the alignment points?

I wonder if dithering might help too?

Best,

Markus

That is good detail, I got a similar one and thought the same thing. Might have even been the same night, mine looks a bit more rotated around. Probably an hour or so after yours.

artifact

Markus
I just tried other settings for APgrid - 24 and 200
But I still get that artifact. Might have to get SharpcapPro?

Nick
Nice one too. I usually set exposure to get the histogram about 80%, but maybe it works well with settings that go to 60-70% on the histogram?

Hi Glenn,

Certainly some good detail there.

I wonder if the lines could be because you saved the image in registax before the “do all” of the wavelets was completed. Sometimes a line appears for a period but as it works through it disappears . It can take quite a while sometimes for the wavelets to complete.

Hope the weather is clearer your way than down here.

Cheers
David

Nice one - try medium sized APs to get rid of the "cut" lines.

I always image with the max histogram around 50%, 80 is too high IMHO. Which version of AS were you using?
