Phd2 help

Hi Guys,

So i had PHD2 guiding without any issues and with a total RMS failure of around .56. As soon as i stopped guiding on one target, i slewed to my new target for the night (NGC 6188). As soon as i started to guide, my graph ended up looking like the attached image. I have my mount tracking and my polar alignment is good. it just drifts and does not correct on RA..

Any idea WTH has happened?

its a good idea to recalibrate phd2 on each new target you go to. it's still calibrated at the last target.

I second that.
....and tick the corrections box so u can see what it is actually doing to correct the drift......it helps to see what commands phd is actually sending

We’ve all been there....I spent countless nights trying to work phd2 out and asked plenty of questions too......the guys on here set me straight and now I feel I have a good grasp on the program.

....but......you now have to ‘pay it forward’ when you see a question asked that you have an answer to

I calibrate I bit differently. I choose a star close to 0 deg Dec and near the meridian before my imaging session. This also gives me a chance to see if my polar alignment is still good.

I image all over the night sky from zenith to near the SGP and guiding is always spot on.
I have just rearranged my setup and I can easily guide for 10min to 15min, 20 min sometimes work. On my Heq5 pro belt mod.

I do use Sequence Generator Pro which connects to PHD2 and chooses a star and guides automatically.

Just my quick input on PHD2 guiding.

Ben

Same here. I calibrate only once a night close to 0 Dec. Actually if you are too far from 0 deg Dec, PHD2 will suggest calibrating at <20deg Dec.
