You really are doing well Tony which is great to witness.
Irony has hit me in the face..the nights have been perfect but I have been too sick to venture outside...not only that but one the one night ( before I got sick ) I found that I could use pole master thru a gap in the trees..a big surprise..And my polar was perfect for that night...I planned to go auto guide the next night but beca e too sick to be outside...of course now that the Moon is starting back I am feeling a little better...but I have to go back to Sydney.
Sorry to hear you've been under the weather Alex - I hope that's a temporary bug, aside from the usual ravages of old age that we have to manage.
Maybe you should get that Nikon modified, buy an L-Enhance filter and make it easy for yourself? The L-Enhance lets me image even under a full moon provided the scope isn't pointing too close to the moon; being dual band, colour is still reasonable on many objects so processing is simple.
It's expensive to use Camera Clinic for modifications, but the D5500 you have is super easy to modify and any camera service centre should be able to do it for a modest fee - all they need to do is remove the filter in front of the chip and reassemble, providing you use a filter in the image train and providing you don't want to use it with a regular camera lens.
It might be worth a phone call to some camera repair places.
The weather has been extremely uncooperative here and I have to keep an eagle eye on CFN to grab a gap in the cloud. I did get a few hours last night though.
Looks like a great start to this project Tony, plenty of Nebulosity in the widefield shot. I don't have a clear view of this DSO yet, it's obstructed by my neighbors roof.
I'm hoping it gains some altitude in the coming weeks.
Cheers,
Tony
Thanks Tony and Martin. It reminds me of a jellyfish.
I'd love to get more time on this and my Sadr image but every night is cloudy and it's staying that way for the outlook.
