Hi All,

I have finally had a chance to process some data. I had a lot of trouble with the background of this one with a moderate flare/reflection streaming across the main galaxy.

A LRGB rendition.

Regards,
Tim

Nice one Tim.
How do you get the background so black? Admittedly, my skies are a light grey at best - but I can't get anywhere near that black without clipping.
Id it because you have dark (black) skies - or is it partly in the processing?

Regards,
Tony

A bright exposure of a fairly dim object. It must have been nice to have some dark skies with no smoke.

Greg.

Hi Tony,
I think it is the processing I use....I had to get the flare/ star reflection away, but I generally like a darkish background.....

Tim

Hi Greg,
Yes, I am so sorry, but we have had clear skies up until the monsoon trough coming down in the last 10 days or so, no smoke!
Regards,
Tim

Hi Tim, I find the image a bit "violent" in contrast, I believe that muting a bit the brightness would actually give a more natural look, IMHO
Clear skies

A version 2..... I have tried to reduce the brightness and contrast and I have done a bit of noise reduction.
