Cool What a difference a circular polariser makes

Just having a play with my new circular polariser on the 40D.

Took a few shots off the back deck. These are with the polariser at max and min effect.

Wow

Can't wait to try this out on a dawn/dusk shoot.

The effect a CPL filter has on water and sky are remarkable.
Highly recommended, just make sure it's the circular type.

I've got one that I haven't used in ages - it goes into my cokin-clone front filter thing which part of it broke so I can't attach it at the moment!

Hi Matt

Very nicely illustrated – do your 2009 stars predict your moving into photo journalism?

If you shoot at 90 degrees to the Sun position, then you can sometimes almost turn the skies black when you dial in the maximum effect.

Cheers

Dennis

They certainly make a difference, well worth the money.

Mike you can buy a new adapter and filter thread from Honkers for $9 (including postage). I got mine from ebay seller Link Delight, they're fast and reliable. They also have some very nice Benro stuff, I bought one of the ball heads, heaps cheaper than the Manfrotto equivalent, more features and more rigid. Be aware that the prices are quoted now in $US

If you're destitute yell out and we'll take up a collection.

Yes, they're fantastic in the right circumstance Matt. I have a 72mm Nikon one for my 300mm Nikkor. Chunky bit of kit and beautifully made - great, as you've found, for clouds!

Thanks Phil, but I found one from the same guy I originally bought it off 2-3 years ago (you recommended him too)

Photo1818 or something is his ebay store.
