Photo Sharing sites

I've decided to bite the proverbial bullet and include links to larger images when I post to the Deep Space image forum here on IIS. I see many people use pbase but I thought I might canvass some opinions on the best site to use. A non-fee based service would be nice but I am sufficient of a realist to know that may not be possible.

Thanks Jeanette. I just registered with them but I saw this in the Ts & Cs:
"Hotlinking AstroBin images is prohibited, and you will be asked to cease the practice. Your account, and all your images, may be deleted if you fail to comply."
Does that mean we can't put a link in our IIS Deep Space Images?

I use pbase too, it is pretty cheap really for what you get.
The user interface is a bit basic and clunky but has many options and works very well.

it just means you cant put a link to the .jpg/.png image itself, but the image page itself is fine.

OK. I have an Astro Bin a/c with a couple of images in it as a test. The question now is "How to link them into this posting?"

best way is click the share link at the top of the pic in astrobin, select forum and voila.

Hi, I'm the owner of AstroBin and I found this thread with a Google search. I'm happy to help.

As it's been said, hotlinking means to post a direct link to the JPG/PNG/GIF file, by right-clicking on the image and choosing "Copy image URL".

I discourage that because it takes bandwidth from AstroBin (which I pay for), but people will not see that the image comes from AstroBin, and don't get a chance to know how great a website it is. :-)

The proper way to share is through the "Share" menu, where you can select the Simple, Forum, or HTML modes. That gives you a link that is good to share wherever you want, and points to the AstroBin page that contains your image and all the technical details you associated with it, the comments and so on.

For instance, this is an image of mine:

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach me via the Contact form in the Help menu, and if you haven't already, read the Help and FAQ pages! :-)

PS: Thanks JJJ for spreading my work :-P

PS: it appears that Forum links in the form of URL and IMG tags are currently not working properly on IceInSpace. I have contacted the admins about it.

Thanks JJJ, I got me a remote observatory in Spain a few months ago and I have been productive during the early summer. Now I'm doing some gear upgrading, hopefully I'll start getting new data soon!

Check out my AstroBin for the images, of course :-) http://www.astrobin.com/users/siovene/

Thanks Salvatore. Your input timely and appreciated.
There is something about "reading the instructions". I think it is a testosterone thing.
