What on earth was that?

Well, it wasn't on earth, but in the sky. It was larger than a shooting star and very bright. It lasted less than a second and moved from roughly south to north. It was around 8:15pm Saturday night. Any ideas?

Scott, sign up to heavens above, you can track what satellites are visible for your Lat & Long. Once you have signed up save your location details. If you can remember the approximate time and location in the sky heavens above will probably reveal the identity. http://heavens-above.com
