Avx, heq5 pro , lx85 suggestion
Gettiing my finances for one of these for an ed80. Always owned celestron products and have worked well.
Anyone have had any experience with lx85 eq as plenty of reviews for avx and heq5 pro.
Regards

Kon,
I understand your choices, but here in Australia there are many (satisfied) SW HEQ5Pro users. There's also the EQMod option with the SW mounts.

If you go for a HEQ5 you can use either the Syncan handcontroller to Goto and tracking or EQMOD via a laptop or other phone apps
The HEQ5 is more versatile as you can upgrade your scope in the future to 10kg payload
There are a lot of these mounts being used in Australia and around the world , it’s a proven performer in its class and good product support too
My 2 cents ......

5 year warranty on Skywatcher and the heq5 will have better resale value.

I cannot comment on other mounts because for many years I have had an
HEQ5Pro mount. Recently I thought it had developed a problem which led me to a detailed examination of the mount which I found to be in excellent condition. One advantage of this mount is that there a lot of users on IceInSpace always ready to help with problems. Such help enabled me to isolate my apparent mount problem to an obscure external 12 volt power supply fault.

In all honesty, Celestron mounts, let alone Meade, are NOT very popular here compared to Skywatcher. Because of Celestron and Meade odd marketing and management for Australia (and subsequent years of price gouging), many have steered well clear. This has only recently changed.
Whilst the AVX seems ubiquitous in the USA, it certainly is not here compared to an HEQ-5 or even an EQ5.

Tasco in Brookvale Sydney has now taken over distribution of Celestron, so things should improve gauging and service wise, having said that, I've never had a problem with my AVX in 3 years, works flawlessly for what it is..very smooth and quiet, accurate tracking for visual!

One thing to think about is construction.
While casting of the mounts (like the HEQ5) may have fallen out of fashion, it prevents certain plasticky bits from breaking over the course of time. This has happened to my AVX. Maybe the newer ones are different. Otherwise I quite like it as a mount - the gotos are always spot on if you do a proper star alignment.
The only thing I've (so far, ever) had go wrong with my NEQ6 is one of the clutch levers on the tripod shearing off...not especially tricky to fix.
