Nexdome in Oz?

Siderealtrading.com.au seem to have got the distribution rights to these from www.nexdome.com. Be interesting to compare pricing to Skypods.

wonder if the rotation kit will work with Sirius , I have the max dome but really don't like the metal tracks. Also what's the diff between 599us rotation kits and rotation 899us kit

The rotation kit probably won't work with a Sirius dome. I contacted Nexdome a while ago with that very question and they said they didn't know, but expected it would not because the sirius dome is fibreglass and thus heavier than theirs.

The Oz prices seem quite reasonable.

Definitely food for thought.

It is working!!!!!! the rotation kit is awesome, what a feeling to see it follow the mount.....

The trick with this obsy is to install it on a flat leveled floor, and build it round..... perfectly round, it rotates nice.....

already had the chance to test everything last night and shot m8 to see it in workinf controlled by SGP.

Looks like an exciting project. I'm curious about the space inside; I can see you're into imaging but do you think it would be adequate for visual observers who tend to move around a lot, usually with a seat?
Congrats btw (y)

price

Hi, I bought a Nexdome Dome and Ring from Sidereal Trading,
and I am quite happy with it including price too.
When you do the math, They are quite large and heavy shipping wise and those costs, plus insurance are built into the local price plus local support, which is great and they are quick they are quick to respond to any queries.

It is not too bad compared to all the other domes for sale especially the prices.

I get that - I really wish there was a local maker of these sort of products here, but I guess it is not cost effective given the market size.

I notice though that nexdome seem to have a fixed shipping cost of 2600, no matter how many you order - so In theory you could save a few thousand by a bulk buy of 4 or 5. I will be sticking with my astro tent for a while though.

I hope the rotation gear has some sort of cover....to have the gear exposed without a guard for fingers, as shown, is hardly a safe configuration...hence I can only assume this is for illustration purposes ?
