Berowra Public School Report - 4th Nov 2011

Approximately 100 adults and children were in attendance at a community
observing night at Berowra Public School on Friday 4th Nov 2011.

The night was organized by Berowra resident Mark Suchting as a "Creative Berowra"
community event.

Wildcard Innovations supplied a laptop, Mark sourced a LCD
projector and he gave a presentation at 7:30pm to
attendees before they moved onto the observing field at around 8:15pm.

Myself and Mai brought an 18" Obsession fitted with Argo Navis courtesy of 3RF
Australia
. Mark brought a couple of more modest aperture Dobs and we entertained
long queues with views of objects such as the Moon and Jupiter before the
clouds rolled in at around 9:30pm. With large numbers of people still around I
was anxious to determine whether everyone had got a look through the scopes
and the crowd assured us they had. So despite the cloud, the upside was that they
had been excited enough by what they had seen that they wanted to see more!

Among the crowd were Berowra resident Greg Bryant, editor of Sky & Telescope
Australia, whose son also happens to attend the school.

Best Regards
