what is this software?

Hi Brains Trust

I was watching a you tube video done by Forrest Tanaka.
There is a quick shot of what appears to be camera control software (see attached screen shot).

Any one know what it is?
Is it better than Canon EOS utility?

It might be the latest version of Nebulosity? It isn't one that I've seen before but it looks like it integrates itself with PHD.

Backyard EOS is brilliant and easy to use and has so many cool features that are simple to use, suck it up, you will not be sorry. Download the trial for free.

You do wan't a Canon that has live view to take full advantage though.

Cheers,

Damien.

I am just about to buy a copy of backyard Nikon. I have BYEos but the camera is too old for live view. I have semi approval to use my wife's D3 (officially unsupported but it does work) and had a crack at nightscapes recently. I found it to be much more sensitive and less noisy than the old 350D as well as having live view for focussing.

The software is pretty easy to use and I found that I can set up a network share in the laptop so images go straight to my NAS for storage.

Hi,
I have a Canon EOS camera and have used APT a couple of years now. There is a free version and a paid version. I have the paid version, not very expensive.

You can read about it here:
http://www.ideiki.com/astro/

If you are on the move to buy a new program, test the free vesion of APT first and see if you like it.

Here you can se how I control the focus motor with it:

Is it worth getting the Premium version over the Classic or will Classic do?

Premium allows you to save Imaging tasks for future use. I should have gotten it. Otherwise you have to enter the data evry time you change. OK if you are keeping it simple as I do but if you are doing repeated sessions to collect those hours of data it would be very handy.
I'd suggest getting it.
