F1 - Texas Qualifying Sun 2 Nov 2014 04:30am AEDT TEN

Coverage of the Qualifying Session for this weekend's race in Austin will
air on TEN at 04:30am AEDT on Sunday morning.

If you miss it, it is repeated at 11:30am AEDT Sunday morning on ONE.

Coverage of the race itself on Monday morning is on ONE starting at 06:30am AEDT.

It is repeated on TEN at 23:30 AEDT on Monday night.

Conditions are expected to be fine over the weekend.

In F1 news, both Caterham and Marussia have gone into administration
and both will miss the US and Brazilian races, leaving only 18 starters.

Vettel will take a grid penalty because he has used up his full allocation of
engines. That means he is not likely to take part in practice and qualifying
and instead start in the pit lane on race day, much to the dismay of US
race organizers.

Vettel expects to pay the engine penalty this weekend. “It looks like it will happen in Austin,” he said. “The rule is completely stupid. So the people turn on the television and see a driver who just stands around and has nothing to do.”

At least Epstein is pleased with Vettel’s team-mate, Daniel Ricciardo. “Daniel has said some phenomenally nice things about our track and said it was one of his favourites,” he said. “He’s picked up a lot of fans here.”

Andrew Benson at the BBC is reporting that there will be a trial
of a new "virtual safety car" at the US Grand Prix.

Teams will try the technology after both practice sessions on Friday.

In event of a crash, drivers will have to keep to a speed about 35% slower than a normal dry lap time.

Drivers will be aided by a dashboard display and, if they exceed the specified speed limit when the virtual safety car system is in place, they will face penalties.

After testing the system, governing body the FIA will decide in tandem with the teams when it can be formally introduced.

Nico absolutely blitzed the pack in qualifying. Should make for an interesting race. The Renault powered cars are nearly 15km slower top speed than the Mercs, that is damn ridiculous.

Mr Jones, was magnanimous enough to admit he was wrong in saying Nico would romp away with it from the start.
He has not given Lewis Hamilton the credit he deserves all season, even though Lewis has now won 10 races
He keeps saying Lewis is fragile because Lewis has a hissy fit now and again, also saying Nico is the better racer
Eat your words Mr Jones Lewis Hamilton won,10 races Nico Rosberg won 4 races.
As Paulene would say"Please explain" Mr Jones
Don't get me wrong, I admire Alan Jones as a driver, but when he shows complete bias against a certain driver aka Lewis Hamilton, I am not amused.
Great racing up and down the field
All it needs now is to get more cars on the track and the USA Grand Prix will be a cracking circuit.
Cheers.

One thing I notice but none of the commentators has deemed to mention, is that since Nico Rosberg punctured Lewis Hamilton's tyre at Spa, Rosberg has not won a race.
Lewis Hamilton has won the last 5
Who is the fragile one Alan Jones
Cheers

And yet Hamilton could still miss out on the title, it makes the current points system look a bit silly...

Nico is likely losing because pit to driver radio is now banned, without engineers feedback and instructions his racecraft is compromised. Lewis has far more experience is the more talented natural racer IMO

However, his reliability has been pretty bad, and he was taken out by Nico in Belgium - hence Nico is still in the hunt for the title.
