Not a Supernova ?

was up this morning at around 5;30. Saw Orion. North of Lambda Orionus, about the same distance away as Betelgeuse is from the belt, was a very bright star, too bright to be Venus. and I think too high to be Venus if Venus gets that far northWondering what it was.

I would not expect it to be a supernova -- but it was bright enough, but watched it for a few minutes and it did not appear to move, so is unlikely to be a plane.

I never expect to find a supernova -- last one was 500 od years ago in our galaxy.

Have never seen the space station, so what might it be. Was getting ready to go out, dos did not get a chance to observe it for longer.

Yep. Looks pretty bright just before dawn and scintillates wildly low in the early sky. Brightest I have seen it it think.

Thanks guys never seen Venus that bright before. I thought it was too high in the sky and too bright to be Venus, so was wondering what it was. But that picture put it near where I saw it this morning.
