Astro-Physics mounts around Gold Coast/Brisbane

I have an AP 1200 with a keypad that's stopped working.

Before shipping the keypad back to Astro-Physics, I would like to confirm that the issue is with the keypad and not the mount controller.

Let me know if you have an Astro-Physics mount in the Gold Coast or Brisbane area and you wouldn't mind me testing my keypad to see if it powers up.

Thanks.

I have a Mach1 at Upper Coomera. I am at my Obs at the moment and will be home tomorrow night.

Hi Gavin,
You could also just try connecting to the controller from a PC with the AP ASCOM driver installed and seeing if it's alive that way.

Thanks Rick and Darrell.

I'm in Robina so perhaps I could pop up and see you Darrell when it's convenient for you. Please let me know.

I assume the key pad is compatible but here's a picture of the connector for comparison.

Key Pad Connector

Thanks Paul for the suggestion. I should have mentioned that the mount works fine through TheSkyX. It's just the key pad that's playing up. That could either be a key pad issue or something in the mount's controller specific to the key pad operation. I'm hoping it's the key pad.

No problem. The pins look right. I will be leaving here tomorrow morning - unbelievable dust haze has blown in from the west.

I will PM you with some details when I get home.

Hi Gavin

Just a quickie, but what are the symptoms? Is it dead as or is it causing the mount to slew in unexpected directions? Indicates the battery is on the way out.

Worth dropping George at AP a line and walking him through the problem.

Hi David. It's dead. No display and no slewing. I've spoken to George and have organized to return it if required.

Hi Logan. The battery is probably dead but isn't required for operation of the key pad. I've dismantled the case to check the power connector and sent photos to George.

Thanks though for the suggestions.
