Spent a couple of hours this arvo taking out the HP2 (IR cut) filter to enable the camera to function purely as astro -
Just on ribbon cable not seated properly meant I had to remove the back again and check them.... but all in all a success
Let's see how it performs on the sky
I hope you enjoy your modded 450d, the extra Ha sensitivity is not to be sneezed at. Mine was modded by a fellow club member, the same one who led me down the path of astro imaging, but I forgive him for that.
You'll have to re-set the white balance for daylight photography if you intend to use it that way at all.
Pat, the standard camera lenses are not likely to focus at infinity after the mod. A clip-in filters may help as they adds extra glass in the optical path.
On the other hand if you plan to use the no-IR-filter-modded DSLR with a telescope you should not have any problems with the focus.
Well done Jen, heading for the Dark Side fast.
So when are you going to do the sensor cooling mod ? Glen and myself have plenty of suggestions and tips for you ... heheheh ...
You'll be wanting a mono soon ..... then your conversion will be complete.
