Thanks again, I have ordered the Star Adventurer.

I would like to get a GoTo mount at some point in the future as it would mean my wife participating as she loves stargazing too, even though neither of us has a clue ! (hence the GoTo )

They are both at the bottom end of the Canon range but have 18mp low noise sensors and good menus for everything else. I don't know what Aussie prices are like on them but I'm more than happy with my 1200D for Astro and it is quite capable of 'normal' pictures as well.

What worries me about the Star Adventurer is the fact that you have to set up the Polar Alignment and THEN mount the camera / lens which may mess it up.

I bought the "astro" package, comes with extra L shape bracket and counterweight so not the case.
