A year ago the Townsville Astronomy Group lost everything in the Townsville flood, a lot of hard work by the members have returned the site back to better than before the flood.
We had a photo shoot by the Townsville Bulletin who are doing a story on the club.
We have 3 of the big 20” scopes but only bought 2 out for the shoot.
Shame more of the members couldn’t make it out for the shoot.
Is that AstroTurf that's been laid out in front of the two shipping containers? If it is, it is good idea
Alex.
Thanks Alex
The viewing site was given to us from Townsville council and is about a 15 minute drive from the outskirts of the city, reasonably dark site.
Yes it is Astro Turf.
That makes sense. Somewhat further out, I once was at army cadet camp at Sellheim. That was my best ever naked-eye view of the Milky Way and being 14 at the time, my eye sight was at its peak.
Thanks for posting this Alan. My daughter is so flipped out she's gonna be in the newspaper! Better find some copies when it's printed to keep and give to the grandparents

Good on her, might be a shortage of papers that day
