It seems that the Dysons are the way to go, however we don't and never have used one.

We have a trusty old green Electrolux that has been sucking as long as i can remember, and one drags it along with the hose to where one wants to suck.

It just about lifts the carpet, so one can really say this model really sucks, thanks RB.

It’s true though.
Google must’ve been reading this thread and launched a cyber attack on my Dyson.

We had a fairly expensive at the time Dyson upright and considered it "Meh"

When that died we bought a Bosch barrel (About four years ago) and consider that a different sort of Meh. The advantage of the upright was the brush was motor driven where the Bosh has a turbine driven one, which requires complete disassembly about every six months when it fills with dirst and dog hair and stops running. Vacuum is fairly good when it's main filter is clean (In the waste barrel) it self cleans it every now and again but after a couple of cycles it works noticeably better if I pull it to bits and blow the fine dust out of the filter with my compressor.

So they both suck, to varying degrees!

The next vacuum need not apply unless it has a motor driven brush.

Back home I had a Sucedur a model made by Moulinex at the time. Never ran properly in oz though. I think the turbine rotated right instead of left.

Got 3 Dysons, bit of overkill I suppose, latest is the V10 deadset on full beans it would suck a golf ball through a straw.

I’m with JA, +1 for the Wertheim and the turbo head.
Had one for years, just loved it.
Bought a Dyson powered upright - hate it. A bunch of plastic held together by some “smart” engineering.
When it dies (hopefully soon) I will definitely go back to the Wertheim.

Good on you bro!
If anyone needs one they can be expensive new circa $1K, but here is an absolute bargain for anyone (includes powered head) on eBay. As always check for yourself, especially if in Queensland for local pickup.

Well, I've had a Dyson DC37 and a Dyson stick, for over 10 yrs with no
problems at all; the stick still gets its full running time on its original battery.
Plastic or not, they are still in good condition, and no bags.

A Meile . After fifteen years I just purchased a new one. Great filters, Half the weight, more power , half the price ,$300 online purchase at DJs. Just buy a vortex attachment from Godfreys if you want to save on bags or suck up metal or bugs.

After owning Miele and Dyson, its Miele all the way for me, better ergonomics, great suction, well thought out design and still German made.

Recently purchased a Miele bagless to replace the old Dyson DC08 and its quite a nice upgrade.
