Imagine there is a problem with supply , cards stop working ' trucks stop delivery ' petrol stations have run out ' your water tap dries up & the grid is down etc '''''
Panic buying has stripped supply outlets , you check whats left at home only to be horrified at the small amount of actual food / water you have !
Just wonder how many of you Have a months worth of supplies as backup
Hmm. I sometimes use an ice breaker like this at work. You are sitting in an Italian restaurant with friends and you notice that there are zombies attacking everyone in the street outside. What’s your survival strategy?
How many people do you think grab the pizza and dive under the table?

I've got about 6 weeks worth of both .
How about you ?
Bobby .
Rather pointless, at what stage do you stop, 6 weeks, 10, 12, 20
Ive thought about it but don’t see the point in storing foodstuffs because as someone said where do you stop?!?!?
I do however have dams with fish/yabbies, plentiful kangaroos and other wildlife(recently found pigs and deer in the bush behind me!), basic hunting equipment (not a hunter but I’m sure I could learn in a crisis).
I remember in 1998, there was an explosion at Longford gas plant where unfortunately two people lost their lives, the result was two weeks without gas. People lost their minds fighting over electrical goods at my then local target. would be mayhem if we lost all services.

Reason: bad spelling bad grammar bad punctuation
I think one would be surprised at how long one could survive with basic hunting and gathering skills.
I still know how to catch rabbits and cook them on a camp fire, we used to do that when we were kids.
Now that was along time ago.
I keep the motorhome fully stocked with long-life drinks and canned foods, fuel tank full for short notice trips, two full gas bottles, solar panels on the roof charging 500Ahr batteries, cases of red and white wine under the seats....... telescopes under the bed......200 litres of fresh water in the tanks....
I'm good for a few weeks of off-the-grid living in comfort......
Your 500Ahr batteries will run the a/c for a good 4 or 5hrs, so if the hypothetical disaster should coincide with very hot weather, you won't be comfortable for long.

Hmmm a Carrington event ... social breakdown and lawlessness that are likely to follow and your 6 weeks supply will be long gone. Jeremy is right where do you stop. I think it was a Dr Karl K remark I heard discussing what is likely to happen should we get a Carrington sized event...the reply was "millions would starve to death"

Guess I better increase the 6 weeks of stuff to 6 months , after that time there wont be many people still running amok .
Then again anarchy would still exist but at least I'd have a chance of getting through the worst of it
Perfect, nothing better than becoming a "target", when people starving know YOU have 6 months food
There's no substitute in such circumstances as "mind open, mouth shut, and where possible, lots of ammo". Bonus points for achieving distance from others. Understandably, this is easier in Australia than elsewhere.
My grand mother used to stockpile sugar, flour and oil. She always had 6 months worth to the day she passed because that's what they missed most during WW2 and she told me she'd never get caught out again. I guess you never really know what you'll need until you really miss it.
Jeremy water in OZ is few and far in between. You've got a lot more in UK.
