michael is going

bintel wont be the same.
if you want to see this wonderful man one more time you have until Friday...i hope he has told other people and not been sharing a secret...
but if you need something and in the area..he can tell you of his new adventure...i wonder if there is a party we can crash.
and if no party there should be.
if we all arrange to go to Bintel at a prearranged time with eskies and some chips ...

There certainly should be a party for him!

He along with Don Whiteman , are major reasons I go to Bintel..You WILL NOT find a nicer or more knowledgeable Astro person in Sales...others there good but not like him..irreplaceable in my view.

PS:You'd hope they've organized something.
Im in if there is something.

When they moved from York St Sydney there around 2007 can't remember him there then ; Don yes , as he sold me an 8inch Meade SCT, and collimated , and checked it for me etc..not sure he may have been starting part time just after.
Surely someone must know for sure.

Don is the go-to man at Bintel - face to face or over the phone/email.

I never met Michael but I heard he is extremely helpful and knowledgeable

I was always served by Don who is also so helpful and knowledgeable and is always up for a chat (more times than not you end up talking for half an hour or more ) very accomodating!

Sad to here people like Michael moving on

I have dealt with and more often bought from Bintel ever since Mike Smith setup shop -even when I worked for one of their competitors part time for 7 years. That's how much I valued their great service, knowledge, advice and friendship - puts a value that is so far, far above just price and Bintel were just as competitive as others here and overseas.
Mike S, Don, Mike C and Lilly are the nicest people who have a had a BIG impact on my astronomical journey and achievements.
Mike after 17 years all I can say is thank you!

Mick is in his early 40's and started to work at Bintel while he was at Uni

so i would guess he has been at Bintel over 20 years (at a guess i would say 23 years)

Sorry to hear this news, as others have mentioned Michael (and everyone else) were always top shelf. Michael was very helpful every time I was in the shop. Best wishes to him in his future endeavors.

I know where he is going etc but probably should let him talk about that if I go on I will sound like a gossip.

Well I picked up the filter.and the 80mm so more cloud.

It is a pity Michael is going.he spent maybe an hour with me making sure my camera fitted even set the scope amd camera on a mount so we could take a snap of a flag in the distance to really make sure everything worked...as it did.
You know he even went out to my car and put money in the meter...
And its not only Michael the crew there is fantastic so the extra service will continue.
They deserve a business of the year award.
And he threw in something I may need, probably not, for nix ...how good is that.
Alex

I spoke to Michael today about his plans for the future and where he is going. I am not at liberty to say, but suffice to say he sounds happy with his decision and that is all that matters.

I have never met Michael in the flesh but I can say that our collaboration on numerous problem solving issues over the years has forged a friendship and I am proud to call him my friend.

His leaving will create a large hole in the Bintel team, but I am sure they will continue to provide the service we know they provide.

Thanks for the service you have provided to me, to everyone I have sent to you and most of all for listening. I wish him the very best for the years ahead and in his new life. Well done Michael.
