M42 Optilong filter comparison

I was just waiting for some clouds to clear . And decided to do a bit of a Optilong filter comparison on M42 . Using the optilong L Pro, L enhance, L Xtreme , UV/IR . I also put in a Bintel UV/IR cut for the cheaper end of the comparison.

They are all just a 10 second sub taken with a Zwo 294 Pro with a gain of 120 . All images were taken in the same minute.

Taken in borte 4 skys with a Espirt 80 .

These are just screens shots from my tablet linked to the asi air . No processing at all has been done.

A good comparison Kuz - I always find these interesting. The L extreme seems to bring out the best detail - with colour adjustments it would probably be better. Next best would be the L Enhance and L Pro. I would also take a shot without any filter. Thanks, John W.

M42 Optilong filter comparison

Hi Kuz,
I found this very interesting, especially seeing what get subtracted with tighter bandwidth. I think there is a wider range of colour in the L-Pro, and the IR/UV cut which can be stretched out. The background on the the IR/UV can be removed. I was surprised how much Ha cane through with this filter. I am in Bortle 4 and decided on the CLS-CCD which should arrive today. Will be interesting to compare.
