Blue Pterodactyl

I imaged this over a few nights we had clear up here recently. Located in the Vela constellation this is part of quite a large area of Oiii and Ha rich gases with so many areas of interest, some of which won't show in CDC or Stellarium. If you have a framing wizard as in SGP or NINA it is easy to see and set up a sequence.

A total of 65 frames at 5 minutes with dark, flat, dark flat, bias and a BPM were used.

I'm waiting for a new bit of gear so I can set up my scope and leave it as well as removing some slight tilt and hopefully bring out the best of what I have.

The top Oiii strip as well as the Ha in the middle to me looked like a Pterodactyl hence where the name came from.

Thanks for looking.

Karl

Thanks Marc, I probably could tweak it more but with the limited knowledge of processing at the moment I have some bits of noise through out. I am learning certain programs work better than others depending the area.

Less is more. Focus on gathering good data. Processing will be minimal.

Well done!
Great bit of storytelling, I see the whole gang from Avatar flying off to battle there
Just need some more data to finish it off now.

Wow, fantastic image. I would love to have a go at this. I tried the other night using ra/dec goto but could not see anything. Would you know a star I could center on?

Cheers
Paul
