This is a great thread. The meerkat is a photo I took at Melbourne Zoo, they are quite cute animals, always on the look out for each other. As for the traveller username, did a bit of travelling in my younger years, but in an astronomical sense, we are all travellers in the vast cosmos.

Mine is just of me and was taken at the prime focus of a 32 inch reflector in Texas last year. I looked down the tube while my friend took the photo via the focuser.

Definitely cute, if I may, can I suggest a pic of a very young meerkat, now that is cute
Our favorite enclosures at the Melbourne zoo would be the meerkats along with the otters. Always up to something
Meerkat mannor would be my favorite and only TV soap

What can I say? .. I have an Italian car that I don't want to beat to death with a torque wrench.

According to Kevin B. Wilson, they do indeed go faster as they are red.

Mine is first official light for my self-built 12.5" dob near parliament house in 2006.
The name relates to a field of testing that I do, and I'm the only commercial tester in Oz, so I must be a wizz!

We are on a tiny ball in a HUGE (mostly black) ocean

In part from Carl Sagan's book title Pale Blue Dot; for the picture taken by Voyager 1 in 1990, when at the edge of the solar system, it turned the camera back to take a picture; the Earth being a tiny blue dot.

I did have a red illuminated shot of the scopes in my observatory as they were a year or so ago, with the southern cross in the background.. but it was hard to discern.

Have always thought it good having pictures of the actual person, and today I finally found a shot of me that I can handle being out in public. Taken in Bath (UK) while on holiday last year - life doesn't get much better: stunning scenery, no work, 7D around neck, loaded LowePro pack on the back Those were the days

I have enjoyed reading what others have to say about their profile pictures, so glad to finally be able to contribute.

Mine is of the character Beavis from the show Beavis & Butthead (for those who don't know). Was a huge fan of it in the 90's.

As for GlassHammer, I just figured it'd be pretty funny to visualise a hammer made of glass. Not very profound I know...

I imagined a hammer with which to hit glass. There are such things as glass knives to cut glass.

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's comments here top thread!

I'm a 70's love child with a streak of hippy. I found the pic ages ago and i've used it on facebook for years. It's just happy I'm also shy & don't like using pics of myself.
My name backwards is 'Assilem' But I really am quite normal

I'm like murder mysteries.
Maybe it's the tweed jackets, the tobacco pipes or the funny hats.
But we all know, you can't solve a mystery without a magnifying glass.
That's a damn fact. So I have one in case I get murdered.

Glass hammer?
That is kind of amazing.
A one use only scenario.

Great thread though, nice to meet you all.
