Suburban Helix

Only got 35 mins integration time on this last night before clouds rolled in to spoil the party. Plenty of light pollution and a warmish (for Melbourne) night heated the sensor up to create a lot of noise but hey, it was fun hunting it down. Canon DSLR and SW Esprit 100 unguided on the HEQ5pro.

I can't find 'suburban helix' on my star charts. Might have to move to the city...

Well done Mick. At least you got a result!

Ha, ha! Thanks, you'll find it in the publication " Celestial Objects for Lazy City Slickers". I did think about grabbing my gear and heading out of town to darker skies but I couldn't find the motivation to make the trip. I'll tackle the Helix another night from a more suitable location and I'm sure I'll achieve a much better result.

I know of a location Mick.....with a track record for the Helix.

It'd be interesting to see the difference on the object between your scope and that reflector image using the same sub/overall exposure time
