Moon and Jupiter 0.9 deg seperation this saturday

from 'Astronomy 2016 Australia' ; sat 9th 8 pm (6 pm WST) Jupiter 0.9* N of Moon.
further west e.g. South Africa there will be an occultation.

should be real prrerrty, L

it was prrerrty!! and at the same time watched Ganymede move across Jupiter

Yes, it was very pretty. We had a clear horizon and by 9.10 pm the Cresent Moon and Jupiter drifted past each other before both setting at about 9.30 pm. At closest approach I estimated the separation between Jupter and the Moon's limb at only 10 arc minutes. Certainly the closest conjunction of the two I have seen, other than the occultation a few years ago.
