I have been playing around with some data I have collected so far on M20 and thought I would present an image with Ha OIII and Lum put together. I did some tweaking to the detail layer for sharpness.
Clearly the star colour is average and the orange nebula will not be for everyone but I think overall the image has some appeal.
Once I have all the data I plan on collecting I will present a final image.

Thanks Colin, that is one advantage of using narrow band in images. The combination of the data gives a nice 3D look to an image.

Thanks Marc, I guess time will tell how good it will be. I am hoping to pick up some more of the NB data in the coming week and then after full moon I will be looking to pick up the RGB to finish it off. I am probably going to do one image with NB and RGB stars and one image with LHaRGB. I am more inclined to think that will look the most pleasing.
Paul, this is an absolute corker of an image. I mean M20 is small compared to some other nebulae and yet with the detail you have captured here, you could spend the same amount of time looking around this image and still not see all there was. Great job mate. I cannot wait to see how this one turns out.
I really like this presentation Paul. It has some depth to it, and the colour gives it an explosive violence that, after all, is what's happening.
I keep going back to the hi-res and studying it :-)

Thanks Rob, there are lots of images online with the traditional LHaRGB view but not many with a mix of NB and BB. I hope that I can achieve something similar to my earlier shot in the year of the Trifid and Lagoon.

Thanks Rex, I agree. There are lots of quite interesting areas within the surrounding field too. It has some rather intriguing looking areas.

Thanks Mike. I really like the striations down the sides of the mound adjacent to those jets. Some interesting textures there.

Very nice Paul. Different. Nothing wrong with that but the classic colours are so nice on this object its hard to get excited about a new colour scheme.

Agreed, bi colour on some objects just does not do it for me too. This is one of them. I have picked up some SII now but still not enough to really put it all together. I need RGB at present to bring out the blues and reds properly. That will have to wait for new moon. Damn weather has been a pain in the last month or so, but it is getting there.

Yeah I like the traditional RGB look to this image too. The SII there is more to like but it will have to wait for more data. I am pretty sure the orange is putting me off too. It needs other colours to really pop.

Thanks Lewis, does it appear dark on your monitor? Both my Apple and 4K screen show it to be reasonably bright. Histogram looks ok to me, about where I normally have it placed, but it is always good to see where things lie with other monitors.
I like your photo Paul. It shows fine details and it was fun zooming into the image and appreciating fine structures within this nebulosity. Nothing wrong with the colours emitted from my iPad and absorbed with my eyes
