Ebay.com.uk postage woes

Can anyone help me? I want to sell some items using Ebay U.K. because
these items regularly fetch better prices there. My problem is that I can't
make head nor tail of the postage options listed there, as they seem to
assume that all vendors reside in the U.K. None of the listed options allow
me to state that I will send the items by registered mail at the prevailing
price here. I would use Ebay Oz, but realised prices here are abysmal.
I have looked through Ebay help, but got no joy there.
Being not very comp literate doesn't help either.

Hi Raymo,

Register with ebay.com, thus reaching the US etc too.
When you come to list the item, you can specify "Calculated:Cost varies by buyer location" so leaving it open ended. There is actually a tool under the postage option to enter the size and weight of your parcel and calculate shipping if you are inclined.

Also, the items location is shown on your listings where you register to, i.e Australia.

Very easy to use, ask if you get stuck..

Thanks Stu, I'll give it a go. I'm registered with ebay.com. but find that the items being English, they don't usually attract good prices there.

EBay prices - if you’re a seller - in the US are even worse that here.

It’s become an insane race to the bottom where what you end up with is barely more than what it costs to package, insurance and post.

For this reason we either give stuff away to family or simply dispose of minor items. Not with the hassles.

Even quite valuable pieces of King furniture I can barely cover the delivery cost. I’ve chopped up paintings and tables and put them in a waste skip before rather than be insulted by tyre kickers who won’t pony up $100.

I know what you mean Wavytone, but I am selling my stamp collection,
which is largely made up of quality items, and quality philatelic items
usually realise half decent prices on ebay U.K. not so with ebay U.S.

Stu, at what stage do you enter "cost varies etc:?" I can't see anywhere to
put it.

Thanks. I don't remember seeing it in the drop down options, but I'll have another look.

Have a screen shot of the part you are seeking Raymo here at :https://imgur.com/LTduVMF

It is the section below the "selling details" and just above the "List Item" button..ebay.com though. They all filter right through each other Raymo..

This is crazy Stu, the page is not the same. There are several differences
including the absence of the dropdown in question. I wonder if something
I have entered/changed/not entered earlier in the process has caused that dropdown to be not offered. Actually I think that is irrelevant as too many other things are different.
I only just noticed that you said your screenshot is .com, so I'm presuming that they must be different. Perhaps you can
try .com.uk at your leisure, and let me know what you find.
thanks raymo

Morning Raymo.
I had a quick butchers and perhaps you need to set up postage options in your settings as in the screenshot at https://imgur.com/a/noWq0.

I used to be on .co.uk (being a pom) but use ebay.com now, the listings filter throughout ebay anyway so your target market is still available there in the UK via .com.

Thanks Stu, I'll give that a go. If I remember rightly you have to pay a fee
to get your item displayed on other ebay sites.
