Helix revisiting the August target

I ironed out the problem with my newt (the camera was tilted to the coma corrector), so its less imperfect now.

Captured on 12 - 14 Sep - ASI071MC on 8" F5 newt. I got 6.5 hours with UV/IR filter and 1.5 hours with Halpha filter. Processed in PI, mixed the red channel with Ha-alpha. Attached is a compressed version. Might be a bit overblown. I got a bit overwhelmed by different blending option and trying various options to enhance detail.

And another bonus was that I found out why I had blotchy backgrounds in the past - was using local normalisation during pre-processing incorrectly (increasing the scale from default 128 to 512 - got rid of it). That'll teach me to blindly follow online guides without checking the details!!

The first one is OSC + H-alpha (bit too much colour boost on this one), then next is just OSC

Very nice, a lot of fine detail showing up and you are picking up some of the fainter outer regions as well. Well done.

Nice shot
The colour contrast is lovely with the richer deeper red and blue.
