Antennae and friends
Hello,
This is a wide field image of the Antennae colliding galaxies. This would be very fun at longer focal lengths but the tidal tails are interesting when you consider what is going on. I was able to dig out a few details in the core area using MSDLB. I am impressed by the amount of background galaxies in this region. This is was a great target to shoot from southern AU.

Thanks for looking . . .
Kindest Regards,

Exquisite detail and colour Ken, marvelous! FOV is perfect for this object.
I use your MSDLB technique myself - it's very effective, particularly when teasing out galaxy detail. See here for an example of how it's worked for me.
Cheers, Marcus

Fantastic revealing shot Ken. Both the faint and fine details in one image, always a tough ask but you have succeeded nicely
That's your scope right? Otherwise I am thinking 17hrs+ on a pay per image basis would be pretty costly..?

Great image Ken. Lovely colours in the galaxy core.
What is MSDLB? I googled it and nothing came up.
Oh I see the other posts now - that is multiple deconvolution.

Thanks Mike, You are right - that would be expensive!!
Don Goldman (Astrodon) and I are partners in the observatory in Moorook where we have a 14.5" RCOS Classical Cass which was purchased from Tony Hallas. There is an Ap130 sitting on top and they both have Apogee Alta 16m systems loaded with Astrodon filters.
Here is a link of the setup

Wonderful image, Ken. It's good to see that you got some great Moorook data (between clouds).

Hi Ken, those wispy tails are annoyingly hard to image properly but you have done a superb job.
Nice work

Thats a glorious image, very deep and with some interesting faint details at the ends of the two tidal tails - the right one almost looks like an arrow - I've never seen that before. And some beautiful fine details in the core and lots to look at in the background too. Very well done!

This is my favourite object from the Arp Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies and you presented it so well - I keep coming back to look at it. There is so much to look at, the right arrow-like tail and a faint galaxy nearby...
Simply excellent, Ken. Thanks for showing it.

You all make the hard work worth while, thanks for all of the encouragement. I believe this shows that even with OK data (2.5" seeing) that you can tease out details if you have enough signal to do it. I wish all of you could join me at The Advanced Imaging Conference coming up in October where there is 2.5 days of this kind of stuff.
Kindest Regards,
