A Brisbane Avalon?

Hi,

I’m just wondering if anyone in Brisbane of nearby has an Avalon mount? I’m keen to see one in operation. I’m especially interested in the Linear of UNO.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks I also found those and it has whet my appetite. I honestly wonder how many UNO’s there are in the whole of Australia. Not many I guess?

Hi Chris,
Kens has a M uno. I have a M0.
Are you thinking of getting back into imaging?

I am still loving visual and expect to take charge of the 28” SDM next month but if you have an fsq-85 you’re honour bound to image . The short answer though is yes my system will be as full on as before albeit it with a shorter focal length. If I go with the Avalon M-UNO though I’m kind of future proofing myself if I want to go bigger for imaging or/and visual with a longer refractor.

I have the EQM35 right now which carries about 10KG. The M0 is similar -around 12kg I think but not sufficiently different to what I have. How do you find the M0. It looks like a work of art like all the Avalon mounts.

yep. I've got the Uno. Be mindful of long rigs as they can get in the way of being able to rotate a full 360. especially at lower latitudes. I've got a RC8 which is has quite a bit of back focus. At high declinations (> 80 or so) it wont quite clear the base but even there it can still get a good 3+ hours past the meridian without a flip.
