Updating Skywatcher Synscan Hand Controller

Hi, I've been trying to update the firmware on both my version 3 and version 4 Synscan hand controllers. I have the appropriate cables so I can plug into a USB port and have downloaded the firmware loader and appropriate updates for both versions.
With the version 3 I have it powered up and the loader sees the hand controller and I start the update.
My problem is it gets to 3.7% and it stops and tells me to try again. I try again with the same result. Sometimes the hand controller turns off so I have to reboot it.
I've tried pushing the set up up button to slow the process down from medium speed to low speed with the same result. I've also tried using medium speed and again it stops at 3.7%.
Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
Cheers.

Can't help, sorry.
I'm still happy using the V3.27 version on my HEQ5 and NEQ6 - can't see any point in upgrading.
Just my 2c

Thanks Ken,
If my mount didn't think it was in the northern hemisphere I wouldn't have bothered either.
